Innovation through poverty

While on the way home from work, I discovered that a man who was living on the street had converted “Savanha” (A popular drink in South Africa in case you are not from here) bottles into drinking glasses. This had been done by cutting the top half of the bottle off and joining it to the bottom.

When I spoke to the man, he said begging for money was not a real way of making money as people no longer give as much as they used to, so he had begun creating these drinking glasses to make some money.

Personally I think its an amazing piece of work purely because of the story behind it…┬áSo if you are in need of a quirky Christmas gift, head on down to the corner of Witkoppen and Malibongwe in Johannesburg and get yourself a set of these glasses.
